Future Orientation: Visions And Structures For A Modern Family Business (2003-Today)

Frank Kühne Beirat Vorsitz

The new millennium came with major changes for RAPS. In 2005, Horst Kühne handed over the management to his son, Frank Kühne, the third generation of the family to continue managing the family business. He initiated the next development step in 2013 when he handed over the management to a person outside the family in order to ensure a long-term and independent alignment of the group of companies. Frank Kühne himself took on the role of Chairman of the Advisory Board, thereby remaining closely connected to the company.

DELIVERY OF THE NEW COATING SYSTEM

The investment in the introduction of fluidised bed technology in 2012 marked another technological milestone for RAPS: The RAPS microencapsulation enables the customised coating of raw materials. In contrast to conventional coating processes, this innovative technology enables even non-uniform products between 100 μm and 12 mm to be processed homogeneously to protect them against temperature fluctuations, moisture and oxygen. The targeted control of the release of ingredients and their functionality is another advantage. RAPS received another fluidised bed system in 2022. You can follow the delivery in the linked video.

In 2014, RAPS changed its appearance: A new logo and the claim “Performance Inside” visibly transported the long-term ambitions and goals to the outside. RAPS has since invested in a future-proof strategy continuously and expanded its product portfolio. The sales strategy was also transformed to fit into the 21st century. With the founding of subsidiaries as marketing and sales organisations (MSO), RAPS is now represented in all European core markets. Over the last years, MSOs were founded in Spain (2021), Poland (2022) and Italy (2024).

Team Nachhaltigkeit Frauen Männer

At RAPS, sustainability comes first. One of the company's principles is the economical and conscious treatment of environmental resources. In addition to energy, the company has set itself the target of achieving four more items of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The health and well-being of people and the employees is one of the most important topics here. The other items are sustainable investments, responsible consumption and several climate protection measures. RAPS firmly believes that investing in sustainability pays off in the long term. This is why the company has firmly enshrined sustainability in its company strategy. A separate, committed sustainability team (see photo) has been working on further advancing the RAPS sustainability strategy since 2023.
